Lesotho is a nation in Southern Africa. Famous as the Kingdom in the Sky because of its lofty altitude - it has the top bottom tip of any country in the world (1400m) and is the only country to be completely above 1000m! Lesotho is totally bordered by South Africa and is making a status for itself as an incredible adventure holiday destination. The Basotho people are very gracious and welcoming, and the country is pretty safe and politically stable compared to some of its neighbours. Weather: Lesotho has a summer rainfall climate, with wide snow falls possible in winter. Snow and frost may occur in any month on the high mountains. Rainfall in summer is usually in the form of harsh thunder storms. It gets very cold in winter (May - September) even in Maseru - and houses are not built for the cold (no central heating) if you are visiting in winter carry a balmy coat, it goes below zero at night.
